3 september 2010

English version

I have slept well, but my headache is still present, so I don’t expect to be very active today. Frank does some minor maintenance. Misty’s litter tray keeps falling over, because she insists on sitting on the edge, so he finds a way to attach it to the floor. Also the seat on the passenger’s side needs to be re-attached with longer screws. That done we can leave. The number of caravans around us has already halved in the meantime. Most people tend to leave early. We leave at 9am, which is a tat bit late for us too. We stop at Biloela (S24 23 59, E150 29 41) for morning tea and at Bouldercombe for lunch. Bouldercombe is just past Mt Morgan, a dainty old mining town where we have stayed in a cabin at the caravan park a few times in the past. Then we reach the most scenic part of our drive. A long road winds down to the valley and the view is fantastic. We can see all the way to Rockhampton, which is still quite a number of kilometres away. Frank is still doing the driving as I am still not feeling well. On our way to Yeppoon, our stop for the night, we pass through Rockhampton and also cross the Tropic of Capricorn. We definitely notice the difference in temperature up north. Just after lunch time we arrive at Yeppoon and book for the night into the caravan park ‘Cool Waters’ (nr. 100, approx. S23 12 18, E150 47 20). This beautiful 4-star caravan park of roughly 150 acres beautifully manicured gardens and natural surrounds is situated on a lake as well as close to the ocean. We install ourselves under the awning for a relaxing afternoon and Misty gets her spot in her pen. She is now getting used to it and no longer nervous like in the beginning. I am still mystified about my persistent headache and wonder if I have had enough exercise over the past few days. Sitting all day can’t be healthy, so we decided to go for a beach walk even though the sky is darkening with heavy clouds. We had the right idea. The rain holds off and I am feeling refreshed and the headache has disappeared. We cook our evening meal and afterwards watch ‘The Tudors’ and the whale watching DVD. It’s nice to experience that wonderful day again. At 9pm it’s gone quiet all around us, so we call it a day as well.
